Hands Outstretched

Hands Outstretched is the public name for Handsworth and District Christian Outreach, a Birmingham-based charity consisting of member churches in Handsworth and the districts surrounding it.  We bring Christian churches together to reach out with the good news of Jesus to our community.

Walk of Witness

The annual Walk Of Witness on Good Friday is a large community event in which the main A41 Soho Road and Holyhead Road are closed to allow a procession of around 1,000 people from more than 16 local churches, to celebrate the events of Jesus’ death and resurrection. It includes singing and an explanation of the Christian faith given in several languages.

Schools Team

Team members drawn from HDCO member churches work with local Primary Schools to provide Assemblies/Acts of worship during the Spring and Autumn terms. The team works to build links between the local churches and Primary Schools, acting as a resource for the schools to help children explore the traditions and beliefs of local Christians.  See the team’s Christmas 2020 video posted right here.
